Coffee consists of up to 99% water, so the water used is decisive for the coffee's taste. Furthermore, the water used has an extreme impact on the longevity and maintenance requirements of portafilter machines or other equipment.

How do I find the right filter system for me?

1. Determine the existing water quality. Two values are particularly interesting here: total hardness (dGH) and carbonate hardness (alkalinity). There are two ways to identify these values. The first is through your local water supplier, who usually provides these values on their website. The second, more precise test is very easy using a water Testkit.

2. Determine the water volume. Again, there are two ways: either estimate the water consumption at your kitchen tap or know how many cups of coffee you drink per day and the size of your cups in ml.
