Hario V60 Filter - Glass
Hario V60 Filter 02 - New glass design
The Hario V60 is considered the most widely used manual filter in the coffee universe – and for good reason. With its user-friendly handling and the ability to create the perfect cup of coffee through numerous experiments, it is an essential tool for coffee lovers. We, along with many other roasters, offer proven standard recipes for the V60, making brewing quite simple.
Product features
- Material: The filter is made entirely of glass, while the base is crafted from robust plastic. We also offer the Hario V60 in plastic in size 02.
- Ideal for coffee quantities of 15 to 30 grams: The V60 is particularly well-suited for brewing coffee quantities between 15 and 30 grams of coffee grounds.
- Practical use: The base allows the filter to be placed directly on a cup or a suitable carafe, such as the Glaskanne by Trendglas Jena. The well-thought-out design ensures that air can escape at any time, which is not the case with many other filters, like the Chemex, and can hinder water drainage.
- Conical shape: With a unique 60-degree conical shape, the V60 creates a deeper coffee bed. This allows for more even extraction with smaller amounts of coffee grounds compared to cylindrical filters.
- Built-in drainage ribs: These ribs on the side of the filter promote the lateral flow of the brewing water and trap fines (the smallest coffee particles), making filter clogging unlikely.
- Dishwasher safe: The manual filter is easy to clean and is dishwasher safe.
- Heat-resistant: The plastic and glass used are heat-resistant up to 120 degrees Celsius.
- Versatile filter papers: A multitude of different filter papers from various manufacturers offers plenty of room for experimentation.
Brewing temperature and recommendations
The glass V60 is thermally stable but absorbs a lot of heat from the brewing water. Therefore, we recommend a high brewing temperature of 96 to 99 degrees for preparing filter coffee. Lower temperatures should be used for darker coffees.
Standard recipe with the glass V60 for filter coffee
- Fold the paper filter along the seam and place it in the V60.
- Rinse the filter with hot water to remove any papery taste and preheat it.
- Grind 15-30g of coffee (grind size similar to cane sugar) and calculate the amount of water using a 1:16 ratio. Example: 15 grams of coffee * 16 = 240 ml. Benjamin typically brews 18 grams with 300 ml of water, i.e., 6 grams of coffee grounds per 100 ml of water.
- Add the coffee grounds to the filter and place it on a scale.
- Fully saturate the coffee grounds with approx. 50-60g of hot water (98 degrees) for an 18g dose.
- Swirl the filter to ensure the coffee grounds are evenly moistened.
- After approx. 30 - 40 seconds, pour in a circular motion, starting from the center of the grounds, until about half of the total water quantity (e.g., 150 ml) has been poured.
- Once the water has mostly drained, pour the remaining water in a circular motion again. Then, swirl once more so that the coffee grounds detach from the side walls of the filter.
- After 2:10 to 2:50 minutes, the coffee should have finished dripping through (for 18 grams of coffee grounds).

Why do we sell the Hario V60 02?
We have many enthusiastic filter coffee drinkers on our team, and we use the Hario V60 extensively, both privately and in our academy. We love the construction, the simplicity, the robustness, and, above all, the result in the cup. The V60 allows you to play nicely with the bandwidth of filter coffee. The V60 brews balanced coffees that have a good body and plenty of sweetness on one hand, while balancing acidity well on the other.
