Felix's Master Recipe – The AeroPress Brewing Method

We love the AeroPress, and Felix especially does. In 2015, Felix was the Swiss AeroPress Champion and represented Switzerland at the World Championship in Dublin. Here's his recipe:

1. Ingredients:

• 25 g coffee - relatively coarse grind (see example in the video below)
• 100 ml water (97 °C)

2. Preparation:

• Add water in 20 seconds.
• Stir the water evenly for 20 seconds.
• Screw on the filter and release air (should be completed in 20 seconds).
• After a total of 60 seconds, flip the AeroPress.
• Press for 30 seconds to 1:30 minutes.
• Then add 100 g water (bypass method).

This AeroPress recipe with bypass method has already brewed many excellent cups. Felix Hohlmann was the Swiss AeroPress Champion 2016 with this method. The recipe has also been successfully used at the German AeroPress Championship with minor variations. Swiss filter coffee champion Emi Fukahori, later World Champion, also brewed using the bypass method in 2018 during the Compulsory Service of the Brewers Cup.
