At Host Milano, we were surprised by a combination we didn't expect. Quick Mill and Eureka have joined forces and are presenting the Tio, a concept that combines an espresso machine and grinder. The Tio is not simply a new machine, but rather a system that understands recipes, uses measurements, and automatically adjusts itself.
The machine itself comes with a 1.4 liter steam boiler and a thermoblock for the brew group. What's important is that Quick Mill has redesigned the brew group. Instead of the previous system with its own bayonet, there is now a classic two-way bayonet. This allows you to use commercially available portafilters and baskets. This opens up many possibilities and makes the machine significantly more flexible in everyday use.
The machine also has a built-in flowmeter that automatically stops the shot. This measurement also sends a signal to the grinder. This is where Eureka comes in. The grinder is based on the well-known Libra but has been further developed with larger burrs and an integrated scale. It communicates with the machine and adapts automatically. If you input a recipe—for example, 15 grams in the portafilter and a target time of 25 seconds—you get feedback. If the extraction falls outside the set range three times, the grinder adjusts the grind size automatically.
The espresso machine is operated via a display with a rotary dial. We like that the machine measures and displays the water hardness in the tank when powered on. A good reminder to use soft water, thereby protecting the machine and brewing better coffee.
The machine is priced at around €2,500. The grinder is expected to cost approximately €800 individually. Market launch is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. We're curious to see how the interplay works in practice and whether the temperature stability lives up to what the trade show presentation promises.
