Following the successful first edition of our Coffee Quiz as part of the Home Barista Championships in autumn 2023, we're going for another round on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Everyone with access to YouTube and a desire to test their coffee knowledge is welcome to participate.
What's the quiz about?
The game is all about coffee knowledge. From general questions about coffee cultivation and processing to detailed knowledge about coffee machines and grinders, and right through to very specific know-how about us coffee makers – we'll test your knowledge.
How does it work and who wins the game?
The game lasts 60 minutes and includes 20 questions on a wide variety of coffee topics. The response time varies depending on the difficulty level of the question and ranges from 20 seconds to 1 minute. The questions appear simultaneously in the YouTube stream and on Kahoot! (app or browser). You answer the questions on your mobile device.
The questions come in different formats. There are the tried-and-tested questions with 4 answer options, just like in "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." One or more answers can be correct. We also give you estimation questions that can be answered using a slider. As a third variant, there are sorting questions where you need to drag and drop the answers into the correct order.
The quiz is won by the player who answers all 20 questions correctly in the fastest time. So speed and accuracy are what count.
How can you participate?
You'll need two devices to participate.
We recommend a laptop or computer to watch the stream on YouTube. You'll also need a mobile device like a tablet or smartphone to log in to Kahoot! and the game.
We create the quiz using Kahoot!, a platform that's also popular in educational settings for interactive learning. You can log into our game using a QR code that we'll share with you via YouTube just before the game starts. You don't need a personal Kahoot! account for this. If you'd like, you can download the app. This has the advantage that if you lose your connection, you won't be kicked out of the game but can rejoin once you're back online.
We recommend signing up with your first name rather than a nickname. This makes it easier for us to tag you on social media if you make it to the top ten.
Who's allowed to play?
Anyone who wants to compete with the community can play. The only exception is the entire Coffee Makers team.
Participation is possible from anywhere. You just need a stable internet connection and access to YouTube and Kahoot!
What can you win?
In this first new edition since the Home Barista Championships, we're getting together for an entertaining hour and lovely moments together as a community. Although fun is the main focus, there will of course be a winners' ranking with the top 10. The top three will receive a small surprise from the roastery.
Who can help me with technical problems?
If you have trouble logging in or participating in the quiz, we're here to help via the chat in the stream and will do our best to support you remotely.
If you can't log in on time or have to drop out early, you won't be able to participate in the quiz, but you can still watch the stream afterwards.
How much does it cost to participate?
Participation is free this time.
When does the online quiz take place?
The quiz takes place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Registration for the game is available from 7:15 PM for 14 minutes until 7:29 PM directly via the YouTube stream. We'll announce the login for the Kahoot! quiz platform there. No advance registration is needed – just be in the stream on time and scan the QR code.
