Our recommendations differ from the Timemore user manual. The reason is that we, like with all products, test and try it ourselves. For our tests we use two to three different espresso roasts, from our APAS to roasts from retail discount stores.

How is the Grind Size of the Timemore Slim 3 Adjusted?

1. First, the grinder must be unscrewed.
2. Now the click wheel is set to "0", turn the click wheel clockwise until it stops.
3. Then turn the click wheel the desired number of clicks further (counterclockwise) to find the correct grind size for the desired brewing method or portafilter machine.
4. In our test, we achieved good results for filter coffee at 25 clicks and for espresso at 8.5 clicks.
5. We recommend noting down the tested settings briefly when finding the grind size so you can reach a good result faster.

WARNING: Do not operate the grinder in click levels 0-5, as this can cause the grinding mechanism to wear out faster.

Why Do We Sell the Timemore Slim 3?

We like the further development from the proven Slim Plus to the Slim 3. With very dark roasts or older beans and coffees from the supermarket, the grind size adjustment of the Slim Plus reached its limits. With the Slim 3, the very fine grind sizes required for this are no problem. The reason for this is the improved grinding mechanism.

As with all grinders with a click system, it is sometimes necessary to adjust the amount of coffee slightly to hit a brew ratio exactly. Alternatively, the click wheel can also be positioned between two settings. In our tests and in daily use, this was quick and easy.

Overall, the Timemore Slim 3 is a very well-made hand grinder, with an attractive design, a wide range of applications and good value for money. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, take a closer look at the Timemore C3. If you don't feel like adjusting the amount of coffee, you should check out the Comandante C40 MK4 combined with the Red Clicks extension.

What to Do About Static Charge in the Grinding Chamber?

If there is static charge in the grinding chamber or if coffee powder gets stuck to the upper part of the grinder, we have a solution. If you unscrew the bean container only half a turn after grinding and tap it twice from below with your hand, the coffee will come loose from the upper part of the grinder and the powder will sit cleanly in the container.
