He finally made it! At his sixth attempt, Felix Hohlmann becomes Barista Champion at the German Barista Championship in Bremen. And that's not all. David Wistorf also secures the runner-up title in the German Brewers Cup.
In Bremen from February 25 to 27 at the Gastro Invent Messer, the German coffee championships of the SCA took place in the disciplines of Barista, Latte Art, and Brewers Cup. Two participants from our team competed: Felix Hohlmann (Barista) and David Wistorf (Brewers Cup).
Felix Hohlmann Wins the Barista Championship
With a commanding performance, Felix Hohlmann wins the German Barista Championship with a Colombian and a coffee from Nicaragua. This qualifies him for the World Championship, which will take place in early May in Busan, Korea.
In second and third place are Anja Fürst and Osama Shammo.
For the espresso, Felix used a coffee from Colombia. The coffee was grown by Jorge Elias Rojas Vasques on the La Roca farm. It is a Red Geisha that was pulped and fermented anaerobically. Felix also used this coffee to prepare his signature drink.
For the milk-based drinks, a coffee from Dona Maria Eugenia was used. The coffee comes from the Monsonte region in northern Nicaragua and is a Bourbon Tekisic, which was also fermented anaerobically.

David Wistorf Becomes German Runner-up in the Brewers Cup
David Wistorf showed an impressive performance in the German Brewers Cup. David brewed using the same coffee that Felix used as an espresso and took second place among filter coffee brewers. First place went to Luthfan Satrio Pradipto and third place went to Jason Darien Riadi.
David is co-manager of our shop, works as an accountant, and in quality control. He also conducts filter coffee courses with us.
He invests his great passion in our filter coffee subscription. Every month he presents a filter coffee in a live stream and searches for the most interesting coffees for the Adventure Filter Coffee Subscription.
